I will post grades at least one a week. I look forward to teaching your child this year, and I look forward to meeting you as we both encourage your child to accomplish excellence in the classroom. Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns, and we can have a conference to work on it. I will send home instructions for the Remind app. This app is an excellent resource for you to get up to date reminders for assignments and tests.

Rules and Expectations:

Do nothing to disrupt the learning process. Respect my right to teach and students’ rights to learn.  I will not tolerate student behavior, which keeps this from happening.

Class expectations:

  • No loitering in the hall before class. Come to class prepared, take your seat, and start work immediately.
  • Students will pay attention, follow all directions, and stay on task. We work bell to bell.
  • Phones are turned off and stored in backpack.
  • No leaving your seat without permission.
  • No talking without permission.

Behavior Steps and Consequences:

If a student chooses to break a rule, appropriate action will be taken.  Depending on the severity of the infraction, this could include a verbal reprimand with written assignment, call or email to parent, and/or a referral to the Assistant Principal.

Attendance/Tardy Policy:

Due to the abundance of group work, class discussion, and in-class activities that cannot be duplicated outside the classroom, regular attendance is vital.  Poor attendance will likely lower your grade. The school tardy policy outlined in the student handbook will be enforced.

Homework: Please understand math is learned by doing. Most nights you will have homeworkParents should periodically check student’s homework and class notes. We take notes every day. Your student should always have something to show you. Homework will be checked at random times. Always be prepared to show your homework with all steps provided. Just the answers to the problems will not be accepted as completed homework.

Make-up/Late work Policy:

Students will have the same number of days that they were absent from school to make up their work for an excused absence.  Students will not be allowed to make up work missed if an absence is unexcused. When you miss class, we are still working and moving forward in class. Students should check the Remind app and Google Classroom first. When they return to class, they should check folder for missing work and class notes. They should also consult fellow students what they missed. I will be available to help students after class, before school, or after school to get required assignments. Before class is not an option to talk to the teacher about makeup work. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange to make up work in the set period.

Grading Policy:

The total points you accumulated divided by the total possible points will determine your quarter grade.
